Pear "Rich" belongs to the category of winter varieties that have proven themselves when cultivated in the soil and climatic conditions of central Russia. The description of the variety was given by Chelyabinsk breeders and characterizes it as high-yielding, with excellent indicators of stability and quality fruits.

Description and features of the variety

A rich pear forms medium-sized trees with a semi-spreading crown. Fruits of large or very large size, average weight at the level of 185-235 g. The shape is round. The integumentary staining is yellow. The taste of the pulp is very good. The taste is sweet and delicate.

Harvesting takes place around mid-October. Fruits do not need additional ripening. The shelf life of the harvest is good enough. Subject to the temperature and humidity indicators, pears retain their presentation and good taste for three months. "Rich" refers to the popular, highly winter-resistant and high-yielding varieties with annual fruiting.

The soil on the site for planting pear seedlings must necessarily be as loose as possible, which will ensure optimal air circulation. It is very important that the soil on the site is well fertilized, and also has coarse sand and a small amount of clay. The place must have sufficient light performance and be protected from the winds. The location of groundwater in the immediate vicinity of the root system of fruit stands often causes root decay and subsequent death of the plant.

Crown Formation Rules

The rich pear should be cut from the second year after planting in a permanent place. Proper pruning allows you to create a solid skeletal base and evenly distributes nutrients. Also, the formation of the crown allows you to improve access to sunlight, facilitates spraying and harvesting.

Trimming is based on the following basic techniques:

  • Shortening, which involves trimming the upper part of the branches and annual growths. This procedure allows you to slow down the growth of the plant and develops horizontal branching of fruit stands.
  • Thinning, which involves the complete removal of branches under the base, which improves the access of sunlight into the crown and stimulates the development of foliage. In addition, the airing of the crown increases and strong, productive fruits are formed.

Forming pruning is very important, the purpose of which is to stimulate the formation of fruit wood and obtain an abundant fruit-bearing crown.

The technology of such trimming is not complicated and involves the following sequential steps:

  • at the selected gardener's height of the trunk, the main bud is selected, after which the next three buds are removed in order to improve the growth of the conductor and branches in the most favorable position;
  • the fifth kidney must be left to ensure the development of a duplicate branch, and the sixth, seventh and eighth kidneys are removed;
  • over the ninth kidney, you should trim the annual shoot.

Experienced gardeners recommend using methods such as shortening, tilting and bending the shoots to form skeletal branches. On plants at the age of five, it is necessary to shorten the central conductor at the level of the base of the upper skeletal branch. Further formation of the crown should prevent its thickening.

A good result is the removal of all shoots growing at an acute angle or deep into the crown. You also need to trim the tops of the top, and shorten the young growth by one third. Correct crown formation will significantly extend the productive life of fruit stands and improve the quality characteristics of the crop.

We also suggest that you familiarize yourself with the varietal characteristics of the Moskvichka pear.

Gardeners reviews

Pear variety "Rich" is characterized by gardeners as a very productive, unpretentious, frost-resistant and prone. Reviews of Russian gardeners and gardeners about this variety are most often positive. High-quality fruits can be obtained by cultivating fruit plantations on loose, loamy type, well-fertilized soils under the condition that pear trees are provided with sufficient moisture.

Pear: variety selection

According to gardeners, when cultivating the Rich Pear on soils with a large amount of calcium, granulations are often formed inside the fruit, so it is recommended to give preference to growing this variety on slightly acidic soils. The plant is very responsive to proper care, which should include timely feeding and watering, as well as competent crown formation and protective measures in order to reduce the risk of plant diseases and plant parasites.
